Glue Down Hardwood Flooring Installation Procedure

Generally, glued down hardwood floor installations for your commercial business or residential home as follows.
– A trowel spreads the adhesive glue on the subfloor according to where the hardwood floor is to be laid. In most cases Mike’s Custom Hardwood Flooring will measure out approximately three feet or enough for twelve rows to cover, with the use of a three inch wide board. Each and every individual wood board is placed one at a time into the adhesive until the glued area is covered. Once completed, another area is marked and laid to apply the hardwood floor in a methodical grid like pattern.
– In most cases, engineered hardwood floor variations are optimal for the glued down method. Quality hardwood thicknesses vary from 3/8” up to 3/4″ depending on the manufacturer and engineering process. During the manufacturing process the bottom sides of the hardwood products are milled with relief cuts. This ensures that the flooring can bend to minor irregularities in the contour of the subfloor it is being installed. At the same time it will increase the bonding attachment with adhesive glue at the same time. Though this feature is present in many types of hardwood floors, we highly recommend that the prepping step to even out the cement slab does not get skipped.
