Small pieces of gravel and even general dust buildup under your furniture can wreak havoc if caught between a heavy piece of furniture and the floor. By keeping the floors swept, make sure there is no grit especially in the pathway you will be using.
Move Furniture on Wood Floors Slowly & Carefully
Do not rush when you move heavy objects. If it slides off the padding, damage can happen fast. You can avoid scratches when something feels off by moving slowly can give you more reaction time.
Never Drag Furniture on Wood Floors
It should be lifted and carried to the new location never drag the furniture. Put padding under the furniture and carefully slide the furniture to where it needs to go if the furniture is too heavy to lift. It may be easier to lie the object on its side or back to slide. Like a blanket, lay it on something soft to help it side easier. To reduce the scratching possibility further, distribute the weight evenly.

Especially when you are trying to protect wood floors, sliders are a great tool to move furniture. These special pads, called gliders, fit under your furniture, making moving heavy objects a breeze.
